Twins newborn photoshoot in Surrey

What a better way to finish the year than having my first twin newborns session ?!

Photographing newborns is always emotional, but my very first twins newborn photoshoot felt different from the start. It carried more layers… more tenderness, more unpredictability, and an even deeper sense of care.

Did you know I am a twin myself ? We were born identical ( well supposedly as the doctors in the 80’s were not so sure haha, but we were definitely a copy of each other when we were little ).

If you’re expecting twins, you’re likely already navigating a mix of excitement, exhaustion, and uncertainty. This blog is for you — to give you a clearer idea of what a twins newborn photoshoot looks like, and why it can be such a meaningful part of your early days together.

What to Expect From a Twins Newborn Photoshoot

A twins newborn session is slower by nature — and that’s exactly how it should be.

With two babies, there are more feeds, more cuddles, more changes, and more pauses. There is no rush, no strict posing, and no expectation for everything to align perfectly. The session flows around your babies’ needs, not the other way around.

This approach creates space for real moments… the ones you’ll want to remember most. If possible, I will ask for another family’s member to join us and help. For this session, I had grand-ma joining us and she was so helpful, it really made the session go smoothly and beautifully.

Capturing Twins Together and Individually

One of the most beautiful parts of a twins newborn photoshoot is photographing the babies together — the way they instinctively settle near each other, their tiny bodies mirroring one another, already connected in a way only twins are.

But it’s just as important to photograph them individually.

Each baby has their own expressions, features, and personality beginning to unfold. These individual portraits allow you to remember them not only as twins, but as two separate little humans, each deserving to be seen.

A Gentle, Baby-Led Approach for Twin Newborn Sessions

There is no “perfect” routine with twins — and no expectation for one during your photoshoot.

Some moments are calm. Others are noisy, unsettled, or emotional. All of it is welcome. My role during a twins newborn session is to observe, adapt, and gently guide — never to force or rush.

Parents are encouraged to simply be present. To hold, feed, soothe, and rest when needed. The authentic photos come from these in-between moments.

Why a Twins Newborn Photoshoot Matters More Than You Think

In the early weeks, days blur together. You’re meeting double the needs, running on little sleep, and adjusting constantly. It can be hard to take everything in.

This is why newborn photos matter — especially with twins.

They become a way to look back and see what you were living through. The strength. The closeness. The love multiplied. The quiet moments you may not realise you’ll miss until they’ve passed.

For Parents Expecting Twins: You Don’t Need to Wait

If you’re waiting for things to feel calmer, easier, or more settled — know that this moment is already worth remembering.

Your babies don’t need to be perfectly in sync. You don’t need to have it all figured out.

These early days are part of your story too — and they deserve to be documented with care, patience, and understanding.

If babies are in NICU, of course we will wait before having the session. Twins are often born premature and it’s totally normal to capture them older at 2 months old for instance. Because they are still so tiny, it’s a perfect timing to have them in the studio and we can still get these sleepy poses.

A twins newborn photoshoot isn’t about perfection. It’s about connection, resilience, and love multiplied. It’s about documenting the early days when everything is new, intense, and fleeting — even if it doesn’t feel that way at the time.

If you’re expecting twins, or already navigating life with two newborns, know this… you don’t need to wait for things to feel “settled.” These moments, exactly as they are, are already worth remembering.
