Baby’s changing bag, what you really need in it
As first time parent, it can be difficult to know and judge what you really need to have in your baby’s bag when you go out. You might be tempted to take too much and end up carrying a heavy bag you don’t need ! So here is a useful list of what you really need to have from an experienced Mum :)
What is important to remember is that you should have this bag ready all the time, so if you need to leave the house in a rush then you just need to grab the bag and that’s it. Here are my Top 10 things you need to have in your baby’s changing bag.
1/ Nappies. Take more than you think you will need, because you might have to deal with a poonami at some point !
2/ Nappy bags. It goes with the previous and it’s quite handy if baby’s clothes get dirty, you can put them in a bag too and wash them later at home
3/ Baby wipes. We use the Water wipes, and they are so good. Lily had a really sensitive skin when she was little and we found these ones to be amazing.
4/ Nappy cream. They have such a sensitive skin that you will probably use nappy cream a LOT, so you can invest in the big Sudocream pot if you would like. For the really bad rash, we used the “yellow” cream which is called Metanium. You can buy it on Amazon directly and it is a game changer for bad rash. However be careful as it will stain the clothes.
5/ Muslin for droolings mouths ! Invest in multipacks of these as you will use them on a daily basis too.
6/ Dummy. It will be down to personal choice if you want to use a dummy or not. Personaly it was a life saver for teething months ( and it lasts a very long time trust me !), but also when you travel by airplane.
7/ Their favourite teddy bear. Make sure to have a spare one or two. We lost soooo many of Lily’s when she was little and it was quite dramatic if we didn’t have a spare one on hand argh !
8/ Bottles with milk or water or food on the go. If you are weaning your baby already, these little pouches on-the-go or the jars ( don’t forget a spoon), are super useful.
9/ Hand sanitiser for yourself. Always good to have some in your purse, whether you have changed a nappy or push a supermarket trolley. We want to have clean hands before touching our baby. Make sure to have one for sensitive skin, just in case your baby has a sensitive skin too. My little girl had a bad skin reaction to dettol wipes, we used for cleaning her high chair for example. It took us some time to find out what she was reacting to.
10/ Spare clothes for baby but also maybe a top for yourself. You never know if there will be a vomito incident today ! Let’s be prepared and pack some for baby but also yourself :)
I hope this article will be useful for any first time Mum. You’ve got it, Mum. We have all been there and if you are missing anything, just ask another Mum you see in the park. It happened to me, it happened to them. When you ran out of nappies or you forgot to put spare clothes. Yep been there, many times ! hahaha
